HIGH-SPEED PRINTING

Low-cost Filament Deposition Modelling (FDM) 3D printers are widely used in rapid prototyping and small-scale manufacturing due to their affordability and accessibility. However, their potential is often constrained by structural vibrations that arise during high-acceleration and deceleration movements, particularly in fast or complex prints. These vibrations not only compromise the precision and quality of the printed parts but also force manufacturers to limit the printing speed, reducing overall productivity. In our lab, we have developed a new software-based vibration compensation method to overcome these limitations. By leveraging advanced modelling and control techniques, our approach suppresses inertial vibrations without requiring costly hardware upgrades. This innovation enables significantly higher printing speeds while maintaining or even improving print quality. Read more in the following article:
